According to the UK Chief Medical Officers’ Guidelines, physical activity can slash your chances of developing many common and chronic conditions by up to 40%.
"Regular exercise is so important for our health. However, if you are suffering from a chronic health condition it can be difficult to know which sport or activity to try and it’s natural to have concerns about certain types of exercise exacerbating existing health problems."
Despite recommendations from Public Health England stating that adults should aim to take part in at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise every week, research shows that people in the UK are 20% less active now than in the 1960s. If current trends continue, experts believe we will be 35% less active by 2030, increasing our chances of developing conditions such as high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
